Every time we hear something new coming from Zagato, we rejoice. The company’s latest project doesn’t make a difference as it reminds us of what the design studio is really capable of. Discover the new Zagato IsoRivolta GTZ, a car born to celebrate the Italian-American love story in the automobile.
The sports coupe is heavily inspired by the 1960s Iso A3 / C, which was the racing car version of the Zagato Grifo. The general concept of the car remains unchanged – an elegant body designed by Zagato and a large American engine under the hood. The project was previewed by a Vision Gran Turismo concept in 2017.
Like its predecessor, the IsoRivolta GTZ has an original Chevrolet V8. Specifically, the bodybuilder uses a modified version of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 engine with a displacement of 6.8 liters. The exact horsepower and torque numbers aren’t known at this time, but we’d expect the supercharged engine to perform significantly better than the original 6.2 V8.
Nothing else is revealed at this time, but Zagato claims that the IsoRivolta GTZ has a full carbon body. The company plans to build just 19 copies of the vehicle, 9 of which have already been sold to customers.
Full details are expected to be released in October this year ahead of the first scheduled deliveries at a later date. Pricing details are expected to be revealed in the coming months, but we don’t expect it to be cheap.
Meanwhile, as Hagerty reports, there’s a 1968 Iso Grifo GL Series I with a 7.0-liter V8 engine that will be auctioned off at the RM Sotheby’s Elkhart Collection this fall.
