Will It Come to the U.S.?
Toyota is taking advantage of the growing popularity of crossovers by expanding the global range of Corolla to include such a model. Discover the Corolla Cross, which Toyota unveiled in Thailand. While the automaker remains silent on the future of the model in the United States, we see great potential for the Corolla Cross on our shores.
In terms of size, the small crossover slots between the C-HR subcompact and the RAV4 compact. Oddly enough, he hardly resembles the rest of the Corolla family. With sharp headlights and more rounded proportions than the RAV4, the design is pleasant, although conventional.
Like the RAV4, the Corolla Cross is designed with practicality in mind. The automaker promises large door openings for easy entry and exit, a high driving position and a spacious interior. Toyota is targeting first-class luggage space in the Thai market. Comfort and convenience features include a 9.0-inch touchscreen, power sunroof, rear USB outlets, LED headlights and taillights, foot-operated liftgate, and more.
The Corolla Cross offers two powertrain options in Thailand. The first is a 1.8-liter engine that produces about 138 hp and 130 lb-ft of torque. A four-cylinder petrol-electric hybrid unit, on the other hand, produces around 120 hp. Front-wheel drive and an automatic transmission are standard on both powertrains.
Given how much American customers love crossovers, we think the Corolla Cross would make a great addition to Toyota’s American lineup. But there is no way of knowing if this is leading us. Toyota USA wrote in a statement that “The Corolla Cross revealed in Thailand … is an exciting new Toyota product that will be available in select markets around the world. No decisions or announcements have been made yet. vehicle coming to the United States “
The Corolla Cross makes its debut just months after Toyota introduced the boldly designed Yaris Cross crossover SUV. This model, unfortunately, does not come to our market. Hopefully the Corolla Cross will have a different destiny, as it could serve as a pleasant alternative to the quirky, but somewhat imperfect C-HR. We imagine it will also sell like hotcakes.
