The first spy photos of the next generation Volkswagen Transporter date back to the summer of 2018 when our photographers saw a mule carrying the body of a T6. In October of last year, we took a test prototype with a production body, which was used as the basis for realistic rendering by our colleagues from Kolesa.ru. Just a few days ago, we got another glimpse of the next model with a slightly less camouflaged test car.
The people at home Kolesa.ru has decided to make another rendering of the new T7 and this time it looks like an official press photo. The designers took into account the few new visual details revealed by the latest spy shots, including the curved line in the front fairing formed by the bumper and fenders.
From what we have seen so far, the lower part of the front bumper and the headlights will also have a slightly different shape from that of the previous rendering. At the rear, the taillights now have a more elegant Passat-inspired look. In general, the bus seems to be a bit smaller than its predecessor but it could be just a visual illusion.
The Transporter’s brand new look will be accompanied by the switch to the MQB platform, which will allow the integration of electrified powertrains in addition to conventional petrol and diesel engines. Depending on the preliminary details, the T7 will be available in standard or long-wheelbase format, and even a fully electric version could be on the cards.
The latest spy plans clearly show that Volkswagen is progressing rapidly with the development of the new Transporter and we believe we will see it fully before the end of the year. Sales and deliveries are expected to begin early next year.
