This Wild Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Build Is Just MAD About Living Up to Bronco Name
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport might not be the full-fledged Bronco of your dreams, but it’s an affordable way to jump into something with some surprising off-road chops and that iconic Bronco badge. That’s not to say, however, that with a little imagination the baby Bronco Sport can’t be turned into something even more capable and utterly badass. Cue the MAD Bronco Sport Badlands – a concept designed to show what the smallest Bronco can really do.
Originally intended for the SEMA 2020 show in Las Vegas, which was canceled due to the ongoing pandemic, Ford pitched the concept at what it called “Ford Auto Nights” instead of the tuner show. The digital auto show has already debuted with a number of sweet concepts such as the Bronco Badlands Sasquatch Concept and a custom 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor. But baby Bronco Sport got a bit of love too, thanks to a partnership between Ford and MAD Industries, a longtime collaborator on Blue Oval SEMA constructions.
Their partnership resulted in a land overhaul suitable for small sport. MADs – uh, sorry –mods Features a nifty set of Fifteen52 wheels, BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA spiked tires, a chunky roof rack with an integrated LED light bar, and a kayak (hey, adventure!). But that’s exactly what is found on the Bronco Sport itself. Out the back, the platform rocks a trailer that matches the Bronco Sport’s Factory Area 51 blue paint perfectly, and likely hauls all sorts of essentials to the surface.
Since the starting point for this build is the Badlands version of Bronco Sport, you can expect to spend at least $ 34,800 to replicate this project on your own. Factor in the modifications, trailer, rack, and wheels, and you’re probably up against over $ 45,000 all-in. To be frank, that seems like a heck of a bang for the buck for something so capable and versatile, as long as you forget that you can buy a well-equipped Bronco for a similar price as well.
