This Midsize Truck Camper Is Surprisingly Spacious
Of course, there are many relatively affordable motorhomes. But if you’re looking to take your mid-size pickup on an extended adventure, Scout offers an attractive solution that can accommodate up to four people. Not bad for something that weighs less than 1,000 pounds.
The new Scout Yoho is a light motorhome with a reconfigurable interior. The floor measures just under 70 inches long, providing just enough room for the essentials. During the day it is a sitting and dining area, and at night you can convert the space into two separate beds. Since medium-sized trucks do not always have the best payload capacities, it is important that the motorhome is light. The Yoho comes with a dry weight of 913 pounds, which makes it considerably lighter than the company’s largest Olympic motorhome at 1,133 pounds.
Using an aluminum exo-skeleton frame, the Scout Yoho is designed to be durable and adapt to all seasons. There is no wood, so nothing to rot. The motorhome gets a gel coat fiberglass exterior and roof.
Other standard features include a stainless steel sink, solar panel, portable Goal Zero Yeti 1000 lithium power plant with two 110V outlets and USB output port, LED ceiling lights, sunroof, decorative interior panel and a 21 inch front door. There is also a 10 pound propane tank. If you want to have a little fantasy, you can opt for goodies like a fridge and freezer with WiFi, portable toilets, an awning, a gas hob and a small gas fireplace.
So how much does it cost? Scout Yoho starts at $ 19,240, which is not much less than the company’s Olympic motorhome for large trucks. The Yoho fits a wide range of mid-size trucks, including but not limited to the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier.
