The 2021 Ford F-150 Has Three Interesting Easter Eggs
In recent years, automakers have taken their irreverent side by adding tiny little details or characters to new models of vehicles. Fiat Chrysler has been the most open to these creations, going as far as hiding a little Willys on certain Jeep products or adding the Detroit skyline to others (while noticeably omitting the headquarters of General Motors at the Renaissance Center) . Now Ford gets into action with the new 2021 F-150.
The Blue Oval has certainly shown restraint. Although there is an Easter egg on each version of the truck sold in the United States, the other two depend entirely on the trim.
The most common is visible as soon as you open one of the front doors of the F-150. There is a trim strip that wraps around the horizontal part of the dashboard, forming yet another of the C-shapes that the designers scattered on the new truck. And just at the end, normally hidden by the door, is an engraving of an American flag. You will not get the 50 stars, but the stripes indicating the 13 original colonies are there.
The other two Easter eggs are, as we said, only available if you hang a certain topping. Opt for the XLT with the Sport package and you will get a neat Detroit road map that will take off the ugly highways to show the plan for the radial city envisioned by Augustus B. Woodward, chief justice of the Michigan Territory in the early 1800s. The card itself is located in the door panels of each XLT Sport model.
King Ranch guests also get a neat touch at the top of the central stack. A metal “horse collar” surrounds the standard 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and features a laser engraving of the King Ranch Carriage House. It is certainly more difficult to spot than the Detroit road map, but it has a considerably superior appearance and quality.
Ford hinted that there were additional Easter eggs on the revised F-150, and with only three counted (including two specific to the finish), we are inclined to believe the company. We’ll be keeping an eye out for additional style touches when the 2021 Ford F-150 arrives in the fall of 2020.
