There are many videos of SSC Tuatara. With production numbers capped at just a hundred units and with nearly a decade of waiting for the actual car to perform, Shelby SuperCars is making sure we on the interwebs know the Tuatara is something to see. .
While previous Tuatara videos we’ve seen involve close-up gazes or even throws touting his thousands of horsepower, this latest video involves a shotgun passenger – Los Angeles producer and hypercar enthusiast Buddy Wyrick.
Better yet, Jerod Shelby, Founder and CEO of SSC North America, is at the helm, giving Wyrick an exclusive first-hand experience of what it means to be a passenger inside the million dollar hypercar. It was an occasional gunfire … at first.
Based on the video embedded at the top, Wyrick’s feedback was invaluable. There was even a point where Wyrick looked like he was afraid for his life, which he admitted in the last part of the six-minute streak. We can only imagine the feeling, though, but based on Wyrick’s reaction, we can’t help but wonder if we’ll get our hands on one.
In case you forgot, the Tuatara is powered by a 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged flat-crank V8 that puts out 1,750 horsepower (1,305 kilowatts) on the E85 and 1,350 hp (1,007 kW) on 91 octane. It has a dry weight of 2,750 pounds (1,247 kilograms) and a drag coefficient of 0.279.
Accelerating the Tuatara from 60 to 120 mph (96 to 193 km / h) in just 2.5 seconds further adds to its significance.
It’s mind-blowing, yes, as is its price tag which can reach almost $ 2 million. Yeah, we’re not going into it. Not in this life at least.
