The teaser campaign for the all-electric Nissan Ariya crossover continues with a new short video showing parts of the car while it is in motion. The 39-second clip doesn’t reveal much, but at least it hints at the design of the final production version instead of showing a clay model or computer rendering.
The teaser video reconfirms July 15 as the date for the Ariya digital world premiere. The vehicle was presented for the first time with the IMx concept in 2017, before an updated version of the study was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show last year.
Even from this little revealing video, the Ariya seems to be very close to the concept in terms of exterior design. However, Nissan says it is a pre-production model and that the “real production model may vary”.
“The highlight of the new Ariya is the fusion of electrification and advanced driver assistance technologies that are expected to develop in autonomous cars in the future,” said Makoto Uchida, CEO of Nissan, in an interview. at the beginning of the month. “We expect the all-new Ariya to play a key role as the brand driver and face of Nissan for the new era.”
Whatever its final design, the Ariya should be available with one or two electric motors depending on customer preferences. The range between two charges and Nissan’s ProPilot 2.0 autonomous driving system is estimated to be 300 miles (483 kilometers).
The automaker will produce the premium zero-emission model at its assembly plant in Tochigi. The model will first be launched in Japan and the United States and Europe will follow soon after. Initial forecasts estimate that it will carry a starting price of around $ 40,000 when it reaches U.S. showrooms in the second half of 2021.
