New Audi Q4 E-Tron Spy Photos Capture Its Ongoing Development
The VW Group is about to embark on an electric vehicle attack, and Audi will be part of that strategy. Next year, the German luxury automaker will start selling the Q4 E-Tron, its all-electric crossover. Spy photos of the vehicle first appeared in early 2020. A new batch shows that Audi continues to refine the crossover before it is revealed, but it hasn’t lost much of its camouflage , which still hides most of the vehicle.
However, while the design remains under wraps, we know it will share its foundations with the VW ID. 4. Both use the Group’s MEB platform. There aren’t a lot of details on what’s hiding under the tin, but we expect the same powertrain setup as the concept – two electric motors producing a combined output of 301 horsepower (224 kilowatts). The concept offered a range of 248 miles (400 kilometers). We expect Audi to develop a hotter S variant as well, but that will come later.
The design hasn’t strayed too far from the concept preview that Audi revealed last year from what we can tell. It gets the usual modifications to a vehicle when transitioning from concept car to production vehicle, like getting real mirrors. Otherwise, it looks like a fully electric crossover with a tall, upright, closed grille, chunky fenders, and aero wheels.
The Q4 E-Tron will also feature a new headlight and taillight design that allows customers to choose their look from 25 different models. Inside, we expect a sea of screens, although it should also retain physical controls for the most used functions. There should be a large infotainment screen and a digital dashboard.
The Q4 E-Tron is just one of the brand’s upcoming electric crossovers. There will also be the coupe version, the Q4 Sportback E-Tron, which Audi has already previewed as a concept. Audi will unveil the Q4 E-Tron later this year.
