Mitsubishi Canter Camper Has A V8, Can Go Anywhere
Mitsubishi is probably not the first brand that comes to mind when it comes to motorhomes. Yes, the company has some great adventure vehicles, but we’ve only seen a few used as platforms for custom RV builds. And that’s a shame because – as this video proves – some Mitsus are absolutely great for RV mods.
What you see here is a 2006 Mitsubishi Canter. It is not your typical truck, but rather a light utility vehicle, which means it is bigger, heavier and more rugged than a pickup. The Canter is one of the company’s most popular utility vehicles in the world, with thousands of sales in countries like Japan, Australia, Belgium, New Zealand, Indonesia, Iran and the United States.
This particular example is a bit special. Instead of the four-cylinder diesel engine that the owner claimed was severely underpowered, there’s a supercharged LS3 V8. And boy, that sounds great and gives the custom motorhome the power it needs for long trips. Oh, and you can actually drift.
The living area of this motorhome is actually larger than you would expect when looking from the outside. There’s a fold-out bed for two, lots of storage compartments, sink, fridge, TV, and… well, that’s it. That’s basically all you will need on vacation and this motorhome has it all on board.
As you’ll see in the video, this is definitely not the brightest and prettiest RV, but that’s exactly what we love about it. After all, adventure vehicles and campers in general are meant to be used and to help you explore new destinations.
