If the rumors are true, Mercedes will unveil the AMG GT R Black Series later this month. The German automaker has yet to confirm when it will show the new supercar, but leaked photos posted on Instagram suggest that its revelation may be imminent. The car in the leaked images corresponds to the test vehicles that our spy photographers captured during the tests, and it looks ready for prime time.
The images – there are three – show an AMG GT with aggressive aerodynamics and the massive wing we saw in the spy photos. In the images, the ducks are visible on the edges of the front bumper. On the side, the new side skirts and wider front fenders are there. The rear, however, is where the massive rear fender, the radical rear diffuser and the large exhaust pipes live, which correspond to what we saw in the spy photos.
However, there are many things that the photos do not tell us, although we are not entirely in the dark. Rumors continue to revolve around the powertrain and its performance, the latest suggesting that its twin-turbocharged V8 will produce up to 720 horsepower (536 kilowatts) and 627 foot-pounds (850 Newton meters) of torque. He is said to be able to finish the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes and 58 seconds. It’s much faster than the GT R, which completed the track in just over seven minutes.
Hopefully Mercedes won’t keep us waiting too long to fill in all the juicy details of the new supercar. If the rumors are correct, then it will be much more powerful and agile than the ordinary AMG GT R which produces 577 hp (430 kW), which can sprint at 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in a Mercedes-claimed 3 , 5 seconds. It seems that the Black Series version promises to be a very powerful machine.
