Lotus Celebrates 20 Years Of Exige With Special Anniversary Edition
TWENTY YEARS OF AGE: LOTUS CELEBRATES REQUIREMENT WITH THE SPECIAL SENSATIONAL 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
(Hethel, United Kingdom – June 23, 2020) – A new exclusive edition of the 20th anniversary of one of the most exhilarating and dynamic sports cars in the world, the Exige Sport 410, has been unveiled by Lotus.
Finished in a choice of bright new retro-inspired colors, the exciting two-seater has higher standard equipment levels and an improved interior package. The 20th anniversary of the Lotus Exige Sport 410 is the perfect way to celebrate the impact of this sensational model on the world of sports cars.
All versions have improved exterior features commemorating the Exige 1 series from the year 2000. These include the body-colored roof, side air intakes and rear spoiler, as well as the black stone chip protector “shark fin” in front of the rear wheel. Nostalgia continues inside, where there is a choice of Alcantara upholstery in different colors, and each seat is decorated with stitching that echoes that of the original car.
The unique black silhouette logo of the 20th anniversary is also part of the customer appeal of the new car, with a striking profile image from series 1. It is visible on the front fenders above the side repeaters and on the rear bumper. Inside, it is embroidered on the seat backs and embossed on the car’s dashboard. A distinctive “20” logo on the rear wing end plates adds the finishing touch to this highly desirable design.
The Lotus Exige Sport 410 20th Anniversary is available in one of three custom exterior colors, all from the Exige 1 series, namely Chrome Orange, Laser Blue and Calypso Red. In addition, customers can choose saffron yellow – a color reminiscent of the original Norfolk mustard yellow – Motorsport black or Arctic silver.
The car’s standard equipment list includes three-way adjustable Nitron shock absorbers. These have variable bump and rebound settings that allow the driver to customize the suspension based on driving style and environment, for example on the road or on a race track. The front splitter, front access panel and tailgate are all made of carbon fiber.
A number of features that are optional extras on the Exige come standard on the 20th anniversary car. These include DAB digital radio with Bluetooth, cruise control, ultra-light forged alloy wheels and an Alcantara steering wheel. The remaining options include a carbon fiber sill trim, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, and a lightweight titanium exhaust.
The price of the Lotus Exige Sport 410 20th Anniversary is £ 79,900 (€ 83,613), which represents £ 5,412 of extras compared to the standard Sport 410. The first cars will be with customers in select international markets later this year.
Ema Forster, product marketing manager at Lotus, said: “The 20th anniversary of Exige Sport 410 builds on Exige’s unmatched levels of handling and performance. This special edition of one of our most acclaimed sports cars of all time will continue the Lotus philosophy of being born for the track and raised for the road. “
Designed, engineered and handcrafted in Hethel, Norfolk, the Exige was created to be an ultra-light performance coupe. Critically acclaimed from its launch and still “For The Drivers”, it is as raw and agile today as it was 20 years ago. The Exige responds to the core values of Lotus, namely exceptional handling, exceptional grip and aerodynamic expertise. Built around a driver-focused interior, it offers a pure, immersive and exhilarating driving experience like nowhere else on the road.
Gavan Kershaw, director of vehicle attributes, Lotus, added: “From the first discs of the development car, the Exige has shown new levels of capacity. It set new standards for Lotus road and racing cars, perfectly illustrating our core performance values through lightness, aerodynamics and handling. It really is a racing car for the road; I participated and won races in all versions of the Exige, from series 1 to series 3, and I always left with a smile on my face. “
