Jeep Grand Wagoneer Woody Already Rendered In All Its Retro Glory
It was inevitable. Come on you knew it was inevitable. As soon as rumors of a Jeep Grand Wagoneer reboot surfaced on the internet, anyone familiar with the original certainly had visions of awe-inspiring wooden sides. For those unfamiliar with the old model, the Wagoneer lasted decades like the woodsiness of all woods, first with Kaiser, then with AMC. It finally passed away in 1991 – four years after Chrysler arrived. And now it’s back.
In other words, it’s kind of back. By this we mean both the unofficial woody rendering and the current Grand Wagoneer, since it is technically a concept vehicle. Abimelec design wins the award for its quick draw in Woody Wagoneer’s rendering department, posting this gorgeous faux wood SUV on Facebook just five hours after FCA revealed the concept. Well done, indeed.
And we’re not ashamed to admit he’s absolutely perfect in white. The abundance of chrome with the shimmering white finish makes the wood sconce really stand out. In such an outfit, it’s not just a retrotastic embrace going on here. It’s downright royal in a way we haven’t seen from any other SUV. You like it too. It’s okay to admit it.
Are we a little as well in this thing? Absolutely, but we’re also pretty bored with cookie-cutter SUV styling these days, so maybe a touch of wood is just what the Grand Wagoneer needs. In case you haven’t noticed, there are a bazillion of SUV models to choose from, so going old school with a classic moniker might be the perfect formula to stand out in this crowd.
Of course, the Grand Wagoneer has yet to arrive. The vehicle that Jeep debuted today is a three-row takeover of the Wagoneer, but it is a concept. However, Jeep has already confirmed that it will go into production, both as a Wagoneer version and as a premium Grand Wagoneer version. Look for the real deal that will arrive in 2022.
