Jeep Gladiator Diesel Will Cost Over $40,000: Report
Jeep has just announced that the Gladiator 2021 will benefit from a diesel option, the same engine as that of the Jeep Wrangler 2020. This makes the Gladiator the second Jeep to receive the 3-liter V6 turbodiesel, a 260 horsepower engine (194 kilowatts) and 442 pound-feet (600 Newton meters). Jeep was fairly quiet on the actual price of the diesel variant, but an internal dealer order guide revealed that you’ll have to shell out over $ 4,000 and have a starting price of just over $ 41,000.
CarsDirect goes into more detail based on an analysis of the different trim levels and options currently available for the Wrangler. First, it is based on an MSRP of $ 35,040 (with destination fees) for the Gladiator Sport, then comes the cost of a diesel option at $ 4,000, similar to that of the Wrangler. Then you have to slap the extra $ 2,000 for the required 9-speed automatic transmission, bringing the total to $ 41,040.
The document also reveals that the Overland and Rubicon diesel versions will start at $ 47,890 and $ 51,370 respectively. The high-end Mojave will only be available with V6 diesel, but no price has yet been revealed. Expect Gladiator diesel to be available in the third quarter of this year.
Compared to its diesel rivals, the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon, the Gladiator gains overall power, with the GMC offers capable of 181 horsepower (135 kilowatts) and 369 pound-feet of torque (500 Newton meters) from 2 , 8 shared by 4 cylinders of 4 liters. CarsDirect also pointed out that a 2020 Colorado LT fitted with diesel starts at $ 37,810 and the addition of an all-wheel drive option to match the Jeep Gladiator brings it to $ 41,275, a price that is $ 235 more expensive thanks to the Jeep. But, note that the price of the 2021 Chevy Colorado diesel has not yet been announced.
