Infiniti QX55 Unhides All The Details In New Rendering
Do you still remember the first generation Infiniti FX? A very well-proportioned luxury SUV with a coupe shape long before the coupe-SUV mania existed. It finally gets an ideological successor in the form of the all-new QX55 which is expected to be revealed on November 11 of this year.
About six weeks before the big debut, we’re ready to unveil the vehicle’s design. Of course, this is not an official preview of the model, but an early preview from our colleagues from Kolesa.ru. Two renderings of the Russian show us what to expect from the latest Japanese crossover.
As the name suggests, the QX55 uses the same platform as the QX50. In terms of dimensions, it will be positioned against the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé and others in the premium compact SUV segment. We have seen the car in person, but cannot give you all the details yet. We can, however, share a few thoughts.
In form, the QX55 is indeed reminiscent of the original FX and this is visible even in these early drawings. There is a small ducktail spoiler at the rear which emphasizes the vehicle’s very well-sorted proportions. All in all, this will be a pretty elegant offering in an already crowded segment.
Nothing has been confirmed, but we’re 99.99% sure the QX55 will borrow the QX50’s 2.0-liter, variable-compression turbocharged engine. In the crossover already on sale, it produces 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 280 pound-feet (380 newton-meters) and we’d expect the same numbers in the less practical variant.
Everything is expected to be revealed on November 11. That’s when Infiniti will host the first in line of spiritual successor FX.
