Just like that, we have what appears to be a timely 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor spy video just on the eve of the launch of the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. While 2021 is not that far away, that pretty much means that the next-gen Raptor has been pretty much in the works already. We know a new Raptor will make an appearance soon and is only supposed to be available in the four-door SuperCrew body. This video seems to support this theory. The video itself was posted to a 4th Generation Ford F-150 forum and shows the vehicle driving through surface streets and a bit of the highway.
For those who remember, the Ford F-150 Raptor lost its V8 engine in 2017 to the EcoBoost V6, and this video just might prove that the V8 is back. Sure, the audio is a bit lackluster due to the device’s microphone, and highway shots are just wind noise, but those who can better decipher the exhaust note at parts from the intersection may ring. Some people say it sounds like the V6 with a modified exhaust, while others say the lack of the EcoBoost whine means the V8 is back.

Either way, the video gives us a clear picture of the lines, proportions and huge tires of the truck. Most of the other major details are still hidden behind the usual camouflage you’ll find on test mules. Could the next Raptor be available with the turbo V6 and the V8?
That wouldn’t be too far off, given that the Ram 1500 TRX will switch multiple engines at launch to cover the price game. Let’s see how it goes and we look forward to a fierce battle between these two trucks very soon.
