Hennessey Corvette C8 Wheels Are Wider Yet Lighter Than Stock
Hennessey is expanding its Chevrolet Corvette product offering by introducing a new set of wheels that weigh a total of 22 pounds (10 kilograms) less than what the sports car has in stock. They don’t look too bad either. One set costs $ 5,995.
The forged alloy rims feature 10 spokes that subtly get thinner from hub to rim. Hennessey covers them in a Gunmetal Gray finish, with the exception of a lighter color for the brand’s stylized “H” emblem in the center.
The wheels up front are 19 inches in diameter and 8.5 inches in width, which is half an inch wider than the stock. They each weigh 21.3 pounds (9.66 kilograms) for a saving of 4.3 pounds (1.95 kilograms) compared to the 25.6 pound (11.61 kilograms) parts that came with the vehicle.
The situation is largely similar at the rear. Hennessey wheels are 20 inches in diameter and 11 inches in width, which is also a half inch wider than the stock. These weigh 25.4 pounds (11.52 kilograms) to save 6.7 pounds (3.04 kilograms) over standard 32.1 pound (14.56 kilograms) parts.
Hennessey also offers a cat-back exhaust for the Corvette. The pipes weigh about 4.54 kilograms less than the stock. Plus, the company says it opens up 21 horsepower (16 kilowatts) and 19 pound-feet (26 Newton-meters) of power to the wheels. The first 100 units cost $ 2,995, and they are still available at the time of writing. After that, the price increases to $ 3,495.
The company is also working on a twin-turbo kit for the C8. Even in prototype form, it’s capable of pushing engine power to 643 horsepower (479 kilowatts) and 570 pound-feet (773 Newton-meters) of torque at the wheels.
