Brandon Calderon and his girlfriend were going about their own business in a rooftop parking lot taking photos and videos of a Ford Mustang when another pony car arrived. The driver climbed to the top of the building for another reason – to hoon his GT while making a series of donuts in the empty parking lot. According to Editors, it took place at The Woodlands in Metro Houston, Texas.
The fun of shredding tires didn’t last long as things turned south when the Mustang owner lost control of his rear-wheel drive machine and slammed into the lightweight pole. Brandon still had the camera on and was able to capture the unfortunate incident on video. You can also see his girlfriend’s reaction after witnessing the impromptu GT crash test.
You’d think having a plethora of empty space to turn would reduce the chance of an accident, but the Mustang driver probably didn’t factor in those pesky street lights. There was someone else inside the car as the passenger door opened shortly after impact, and it is highly unlikely that the two were injured. The same cannot be said for the car, which now needs serious TLC.
We hope the driver has learned his lesson and will not use a public parking lot as a personal playground in the future. A well-organized drift event is a suitable place to kill your Mustang’s tires without ending up with a repair bill that includes more than the burnt rubber.
Here’s what Brandon had to say after the Mustang GT lost the battle with the concrete lamppost:
“That’s why Mustangs have a bad reputation … I went to one of my favorite parking garages for rollerblades and photos last night with my daughter when suddenly a dude with a 5.0 showed up and start making donuts. I kept the camera on and it happened … Please respect our surroundings. “
