Ford Mockumentary About ‘John Bronco’ Coming Soon, Trailer Out Now

Finally, the story of the greatest television pitchman to ever appear on television is told. Of course, we’re talking about John Bronco, the legendary adventurer, Baja pilot, and all-rounder who absolutely made it through the 1960s with just about everything he did. What is that? Have you never heard of this guy? You never heard of John freaking bronco, the man so incredible that Ford gave his name to a car?

Yeah, that’s because he’s not real. Or is it the case?

John Bronco’s life – fictional or not – is the subject of a new “documentary” just announced today. Called John bronco, he recounts his rise to fame as the launcher of the original Ford Bronco, which began with his 1966 victory at the Baja 500 behind the wheel of a Ford prototype SUV. The speech he gave at that victory celebration reportedly changed the world and led Ford to call this SUV the Bronco. It was all over after that, but like so many Hollywood stories, it all ended when he disappeared. Now only one question remains. Where’s John Bronco?

Well we can tell you it was do not in Baja in 1966. This is because the Baja 500 didn’t start until 1969. Its name was also not used for the Bronco, as it debuted in 1965 – a year before this “SUV prototype” does not conquer the desert. As for speeches, advertisements, etc., you get the idea. This is a mock documentary; a bit of marketing cleverly designed to spark interest in the new 2021 Bronco. Because you know, Ford is really in trouble with that now.

In Ford’s defense, this idea seems to have flourished long before the off-road rebirth. There is an official listing for this on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), which shows the movie’s status as complete with an updated date of March 13. It’s nearing the Bronco’s original launch date, and way before the world actually saw it revealed. . There is some modest star power onscreen as well, with veteran and regular Tarantino TV actor Walton Goggins (The hateful eight, Django unleashed) with John Bronco. Dennis Quaid narrates the feature film, which includes Bo Derek, Tim Meadows and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The teaser video at the top of this article explains the basics, as does John Bronco’s official website at the source link below. But when will the full feature be released? If it weren’t for the IMDB listing – which sets the film at 37 minutes – we’d be skeptical that it even existed. But apparently it does, and until it drops we end up with a question that will almost certainly be teased over and over again until the actual SUV goes on sale. Where’s John Bronco?
