Since the launch of the eighth-generation VW Golf, the anticipation of its most powerful version, the Golf R, has been uncommon – at least for us who are fans of the German hot hatch.
We saw him almost naked in the Nürburgring, both in a video and a spy photo series, and we pretty much know what he looks like ahead of his long-awaited debut. But then again, images of the Golf R have been leaked online to heighten that anticipation, thanks to cochespias on Instagram, which we have integrated below.
The post contains three nude photos that were leaked. The former shows us the huge tailpipes and rear diffuser of the Golf R. You’ll also see VW’s new R logo in the center of the tailgate, as well as the company’s revamped emblem for the digital age. And a wristwatch on the floor, which is a bit of a mystery to us, but we digress.
Swipe right on the built-in widget above (or visit the actual Instagram post) and you’ll see the Golf R’s redesigned Y-spoke rims. The wheel itself appears to be 20 inches in diameter in due to its fairly low tire profile. The huge brakes are also hard to miss with an R brand blue caliper.
Slide another to the right and you’ll be greeted by the steering wheel and instrument display of the supposed Golf R. It’s pretty much what you’d expect from Top-Dog Golf – lots of tech toys, including the adaptive cruise control and what appear to be soft touch buttons. The driver’s display is also fully digital, which, again, is no surprise at all.
For those waiting for the Golf R, you have to be more patient as VW won’t be unveiling the hot hatch anytime soon, especially those residing in the U.S. The German marque has confirmed that the Golf R and Golf GTI will arrive at U.S. dealerships in the United States. ‘here Q3 2021 for model year 2022.
