Filthy Dodge Ramcharger With Full Mural Gets First Cleaning In 9 Years
When you consider a unique vehicle, what usually comes to mind is a unique machine that is destined to appear at an elegance contest at Pebble Beach or at Villa d’Este. However, this Dodge Ramcharger is unique for a different reason as it carries an airbrush mural on its body. Even the windows received engraved scenes. After about nine years in North Carolina, this rolling work of art finally gets proper cleaning.
The owner bought this Ramcharger for $ 600, but the SUV was in very poor condition. He needed major mechanical repairs and there were holes in the ground to repair. Once the Dodge was up and running again, it went to the Ammo NYC store for proper cleaning, which we see in this video. The next step is a cross country ski trip to California.
The first step is simply to wash the body and there is a lot of dirt to remove. There are even lichens that grow on a few portions. Then the exterior becomes soapy to remove even more grime. Polishing turns out to be a difficult process because there is very little clear varnish left on the hood, and too much friction can also damage the wall paint.
Inside, the Ramcharger is full of twigs and leaves. In addition, there is mold on some panels. The cleaning process includes vacuuming large debris. After that, shampoos and cleansers get rid of the rest of the grime.
The final development is the restoration of the painted rain screens. They show eagles hovering over purple mountains. It’s a perfectly exaggerated touch for a wonderfully discreet machine.
