Dirt 5 Playground Trailer Shows Off User-Generated Arenas

When it comes to racing simulation, the Dirt franchise recently focused on shaving tenths on actual World Rally Championship and Rallycross circuits around the world. However, a recent trailer shows that the latest installment has taken a step back and added a new sandbox mode, allowing players to create their own playground.

While the initial Dirt 5 teaser looked like a simple extension of the previous titles with more cars and tracks, there’s more to it than meets the eye. With the new Creative Mode and other content on the way, it looks like the developers at Codemasters are committing to its Dirt 3 roots of less simulation and more fun. In addition to a few paint schemes and noisy environments, the game seems to feature detailed and dynamic weather effects to enhance your rally experience.

Players will also be able to share their tailor-made lessons with the rally simulation community, creating an almost endless number of scenarios to tackle. While it’s not uncommon to run out on certain titles without purchasing any DLC, this game’s sandbox ability is sure to keep riders interested long past the launch date.

As well as creating your ultimate hoon space, the trailer also showcases other game modes to enhance player skills and add to the fun factor. Towards the end of the video, we saw the ingredients for a possible vampire mini-game – details are scarce, but we’re sure we know when the game will release on October 16 of this year.

From the gameplay and early access reviews, it’s clear that this title plays more like an arcade simulation rather than precisely recreating the rally driving experience. Sims racing is a hot topic given that some actual races get canceled, but the serious world of flat riding all the time is not for everyone. There will always be players who just want to chill out after a long day at work, sit on the couch, grab a gamepad, and kick back after a long day.
