DeLorean Pickup Truck Rendering Shows Tesla Cybertruck Connection

The DeLorean sports car does not need to be introduced. It’s one of those cars that isn’t particularly fast but has made its way into American pop culture – thanks in large part to Hollywood, in particular, the Back to the future trilogy.

That’s why when Tesla introduced the Cybertruck in November 2019, more than a handful couldn’t help but see a resemblance between the Tesla pickup and the popular wedge-shaped sports car. We ask you not to agree, because the Cybertruck is unique in it’s genre.

Certainly, the DeLorean and the Cybertruck share a lot. Both have brushed stainless steel body panels. Both lack cuts and folds due to this body construction. Both also lack color options due to the nature of the stainless steel body.

Truth be told, the DeLorean is arguably more palatable than the Cybertruck in terms of design, and that is their main difference. But if the DeLorean were to be converted to a pickup truck, would you have liked it more than the Tesla?

We found a render on Instagram to test this out. Note, we don’t know who did this rendering (embedded at the top) and the original poster isn’t sure either. But one thing is for sure: it’s a clean look.

For what it’s worth, we like the DeLorean pickup better than the Tesla. It’s more realistic and looks like something that’s not difficult to drive. Luckily the artist ditched the butterfly doors because we can’t imagine tiptoeing just to close the doors.

Again, this is just the brain-knows-who imagination. In reality, there’s the Cybertruck, and it’s only a matter of time before Elon Musk releases his production version to wow everyone again.
