Crazy Lada With Working Legs Proves You Haven’t Seen Everything Yet

We know what you are thinking. Garage 54 and Lada – it won’t end well for the Lada. You are probably right, but this time the video is very different. For starters, this Lada bonkers construction is a collaboration with Siberian workshop, another crazy Russian car YouTube channel. Honestly, we don’t know what type of vodka is consumed in Russia these days, but if projects like this are the result, we want a sip.

the Garage 54 The team supplied the Lada, which was delivered to the Workroom Siberia team for modification. They had already tested the waters with a walker construction prototype in a previous project, but that didn’t hold up too well. As you will see in the video above, this failure brought about significant changes for the future version of Lada-walker.

Disassembly has started and finished with the exhaust system. It wasn’t just for more noise, as the complex mechanical legs are actually tied together on both sides with pipes running under the car. A custom subframe is also installed to create the rear end extremely rigid, and additional reinforcement is added higher through the body.

The individual feet are attached to a piece of pipe welded to the outer edge of each wheel. As such, the wheels operate like a crank, rotating the offset pipe, which in turn causes the leg assembly to move. It’s actually a bit of pretty clever engineering, because the legs are basically a series of levers that, when in motion, mimic the movement of the legs.

But does it really work? Honestly, it depends on your definition of job. Don’t worry – we’re not planning to spoil this 20-minute adventure on the bizarre road of car deception. Part of the joy in this clip is seeing Lada’s crazy march coming together. The video preview already tells you that the car is at least seated on its rear legs, and yes, the wheels move the legs as advertised.

Here’s what we’re going to tell you. The car is moving in several directions and no speed record is broken. Is something else breaking? Better jump into the video and find out. And for a little more about the stupid-awesome action, Sibera’s work room the video on the project is available in the source links below.
