2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon – Modified by SpeedKore Performance Group:
This 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is one of five demons fully reconstituted in carbon fiber by SpeedKore Performance Group. This car was used by SpeedKore as a development vehicle to create carbon fiber components for the 2018+ Dodge Challenger Wide Body and was built to showcase the possibilities of SpeedKore’s pre-preg carbon fiber process.
First, SpeedKore produces a 3D digital model from a blue light scan of an entire Dodge Challenger Wide Body. Then, a five-axis CNC machine cuts the molds to create plugs and panels drawn using aerospace-grade prepreg carbon fiber. Prepreg is the industrial term for the reinforcement of fabric prepreg with resin, usually an epoxy. This resin is applied to the carbon fiber fabric with calibrated machines, ensuring an exact resin / reinforcement ratio.
The carbon fiber molded body panels are then cured using SpeedKore’s massive internal autoclave, which applies high vacuum and pressures, resulting in excellent fiber consolidation and composite structural performance. The result is a unique hypercar grade carbon fiber body with perfect alignment of the carbon fiber weave, and in the case of this demon, a weight reduction of 200 lbs compared to the stock vehicle.
Aside from the major modifications to the body of the car, this 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is otherwise standard. The supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 produces 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque, but it’s way more than a Hellcat Hemi with more horsepower. Dodge massaged the blown 6.2-liter powertrain with 25 major component upgrades, the main one being a bigger supercharger with an increased displacement of 2.4 liters from 2.7 liters. Boost pressure is further increased from the Hellcat’s 11.6 psi to 14.5 psi, and the red line is reduced from the Hellcat’s 6200 RPM to 6500 RPM. Additionally, Dodge added new, stronger pistons and rods, as well as an improved valve train and fuel injection system.
The result is the world’s fastest production car with a 0-60 second time in 2.1 seconds (with a 5-foot rollout, or 2.3 seconds from a standing start). That number is partly provided by the Demon’s 8-speed ZF quick-change automatic transmission, fitted with the drag racing TransBrake that locks the transmission output shaft to hold the car in place before a standing start. This allows an engine speed of up to 2350 rpm without overloading the brakes, resulting in faster power and increased torque at cranking.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a limited production racing car, made even more special thanks to its full carbon fiber body from SpeedKore. This car has spent most of its life visiting local auto shows and is researching of a new house to build. room for new projects. It has very low mileage (181 miles) and is a perfect weekend cruiser or drag strip monster.
