BMW X5 M and X6 M Get Extra-Limited First Editions
The BMW X5 M Competition (and its sloping-roof sibling, the X6 M Competition) is proof that if the laws of physics can’t be broken, they can be bent. Despite their 5,500-pound curb weights, both SUVs are incredibly athletic and ready for when the going gets tough. And when the going gets bumpy, they’re comfortable enough to work as daily drivers. BMW M has poured some of its old mojo into these bad boys, and to celebrate the third (and best) iteration of their performance SUVs, BMW has announced special first edition models for the X5 M and X6 M.
The First Edition models of the fast SUVs may be available in Frozen Marina Bay Blue or Frozen Dark Silver (“frozen” being BMW-speak for the matte paint). Both colors are highlighted by a set of lightweight BMW M rims with an exclusive jet black gloss finish. The wheels measure 21 inches in the front and 22 inches in the rear, and they wear sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Early editions also have their fair share of carbon fiber. For example, the mirror caps, engine cover of the 617-horsepower 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, and the rear spoiler of the X6 M are all made from this material.
Inside, both variants of the first edition will feature a two-tone interior with light and midnight blue Silverstone leather upholstery, as well as Shakir Orange stitching laced throughout the cabin. The seats have additional black Alcantara inserts on the bolsters, and the center console and dashboard are both covered in carbon fiber. The center console also carries a plate indicating “1/250”, as that is the number of parts produced.
That’s right, only 500 copies in total of the X5 M and X6 M First Edition are planned for production, which will make them very rare birds. If you want one, we suggest you move overseas, as neither model will be offered here.
