BMW M4, AMG C63, And Panamera Outshined In Geely Preface Ad?

Geely has the gift of always transforming his concept cars into reality. Remember the 8-bit-ish Concept Icon SUV from 2018? It is now a production compact crossover that almost maintains confidence in the concept vehicle.

In 2019, the Chinese automaker revealed the Preface Concept – a luxury sports sedan to be built on the CMA platform. And as you might have guessed, Geely brings the concept to the real world and recently gave the world a taste of how it was designed.

To increase the hype for its latest creation, Geely posted an ad for the upcoming sedan – and is targeting the BMW M4 (F82), Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupé, and Porsche Panamera. The video, which you can watch at the top of this page or via the integrated social media post above, begins with these three German cars driving casually over a mountain pass.

The Preface came out of nowhere and challenged the three cars. Of course, the Geely won in the storyline. It’s the company’s announcement, remember?

What does this tell us? Well, for starters, it’s safe to say there’s something to watch out for in the preface, which will debut towards the end of the year.

Another notable thing is Geely’s CMA platform. Co-developed with Volvo and launched in 2017 with the XC40, the modular platform looks promising and we’re excited to know what lies ahead for this development. The Polestar 2 also sits atop CMA, along with Lynk & Co. vehicles, and now, the next preface.

More details will be revealed in the preface in the coming months – especially, whether or not this is an opponent worthy of the large German nameplates included in this ad.
