Last month was a big blow for BMW. The launch of the G22 Series 4 Coupé came with huge commotion mainly because of the gigantic grille, but which already dissipated a little at the beginning of July.
Now BMW is back on track with testing its vehicles – one of which is the 4 Series convertible that we saw being tested in April. A new set of spy images has been released, and it shows the Cabrio almost completely devoid of cover-ups, with the exception of the rear.
And yes, to date, you should not be surprised that the G23 4 Cabriolet has the same huge grille as the coupe version.
In addition to the controversial grille, the fairing of the 4 Series Cabrio adopts elements of its coupe version. Aprons with lower vents under the teeth, uh, the grille, the 4th spied on is practically the same with the exception of the blackened fittings.
As for the roof, the 4 series convertible will have a flexible roof as we saw earlier, which departs from the rigid roof of the first generation model. This should go well for the weight reduction of the car. For the style, it depends entirely on you.
At the rear, the 4 Series Cabrio should also receive styling elements from the coupe, so cover-ups on the latest spy footage shouldn’t be a problem. Based on the minimum camouflage envelopes for this car, we can expect an imminent launch from Bavaria in the weeks or months to come.
Expect the 4 Series Convertible to get the same powertrain options as the coupe, ranging from the 2.0-liter inline four to the 2.0-liter rear-wheel turbocharger that produces 255 horsepower (190 kilowatts) and 294 pound-feet (399 newton meters) to the 3.0-liter, six-wheel all-wheel-drive engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology that produces 382 hp (285 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
