Aston Martin DBX Vs Lamborghini Urus Drag Race: Quick Vs Way Quicker

The Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini are both premium SUVs with twin-turbo V8 engines, all-wheel drive and automatic transmissions, but that’s where the similarities end. One focuses more on luxury and comfort while the other is essentially an overwater supercar built primarily with speed in mind. The performance gap – at least in terms of acceleration – is perfectly illustrated in a new drag race Lovecars on YouTube.

Aston Martin started production of the DBX just over a month ago and it has already been pitted against another fast SUV in a drag race. A drop in power of 100 hp and 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) are significant handicaps that the British luxury SUV cannot overcome at the moment, although a DBX AMR could solve this problem in the following years.

Even though the DBX was incredibly quick and managed to briefly take the lead, the considerably more powerful Lamborghini engine helped the Urus regain lost ground and ultimately secure victory. It was a pretty surprisingly close drag race, knowing that the Aston Martin is also a bit heavier than its opponent.

It’s worth mentioning that the DBX doesn’t have launch control, which is why the man behind the wheel of the Lamborghini turned it off to level the playing field. The Urus went from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.29 seconds and the quarter mile in 12.38 seconds at 118.5 mph while the Aston Martin completed the sprint in 4.48 seconds en route to a quarter mile in 12.52 seconds at 117.7 mph.

The Urus flexed his rabid bull muscles in the 0-100-0 mph test by clearing the DBX after activating the launch control. The biggest carbon-ceramic brakes ever fitted to a production car obviously also helped, allowing the spiritual successor to the LM002 to complete the task much sooner. Fun fact: The Urus went 0-100 km / h in 3.3 seconds or 0.3 seconds faster than Lamborghini claims.

The extra oomph of the Urus only matters when it comes to bragging, because in 99% of daily driving the DBX is very powerful and quick, even compared to the fastest accelerating SUV. of the world.
