Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm Sounds Nasty, But In A Good Way

We haven’t seen a lot of Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm since they launched in March. It’s still unclear whether Alfa will bring the models here, although given their limited production and America’s phobia of sedans, it’s unlikely. However, customers in the markets where they can buy the car are having a lot of fun. A new video from the Gumbal YouTube channel shows a GTAm at a Supercar Owners Circle event in Germany, and it captures the guttural exhaust note of the V6.

The Giulia GTAm does all the right pops, growls and rattles while accelerating away from the camera. The car is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 that produces 553 horsepower (398 kilowatts), which is more than the existing 505 horsepower (377 kW) engine. The mill is the same between the GTA and the hotter GTAm, with the GTAm getting several little touches that let the world know it’s serious about performance – a full-size front splitter and carbon fiber rear spoiler. .

What helps the Alfa create its beautiful soundtrack is an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system that ends with a pair of round center-exit tailpipes. It’s one of the many changes Alfa is making to the GTAm, which also includes carbon fiber seats, six-point harnesses, and a roll bar. Alfa is also removing the rear seats to further reduce its curb weight, replacing them with Alcantara. It weighs 100 kilograms less than the Giulia Quadrifoglio, accelerating to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds.

Alfa made several other changes that improve the performance of the car, such as widening the front and rear track by 50 millimeters and adding new shock absorbers, springs and bushings. The automaker plans to produce a total of 500 copies of the GTA and the hotter GTAm. The planned visit to North America is still uncertain, but watching the video above gives us hope that it will.
