In the world of light sports cars, the Alfa Romeo 4C is one of the best. Of course, its style is subject to debate (I personally love the original cuts), but its power / weight ratio of 1.21 horsepower per pound is better than that of the Lotus Elise and almost as good as that of an Evora .
With this, you can almost expect the 4C to outpace even more powerful sports cars. But how does it compare to a Mini Cooper JCW Roadster in a drag race? YouTube’s Stef ABtv oppose the two in one, although the Mini here has a little ace in its sleeve.
Before watching the video at the top, let’s fix the numbers here so you know how they compare in black and white.
The Alfa Romeo 4c is powered by a 1.7 L four-cylinder turbocharged engine developing 240 hp (179 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. These numbers are not much, but given the dry weight of 940 kg (2,072 pounds) of the 4C, it supports the power-to-weight ratio that I mentioned above.
As for the Mini Cooper JCW Roadster, an original comes from an exhibition hall with a 1.6 L turbocharged petrol engine which is good for 208 hp.
However, this is no ordinary JCW Mini Roadster. According to its owner on the video, this is an adapted version that produces 270 hp (201 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of twists. It’s a huge bump in power, but we can’t discredit the fact that the Mini is considerably heavier than the Alfa at 2,765 lbs (1,255 kg).
That said, who do you think wins this drag race? Watch the video at the top of this page to find out.
