A combination of professional drivers and Esports racers takes to the track for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, a joint venture between the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and the Motorsport Games with a grid of 50 cars.
What is that?
With the traditional Le Mans weekend left empty of motorsport due to COVID-19, the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual is a 24-hour online race that will bring together names of all real and virtual races to participate in the one of the most famous motorsport events.

The event attracted 50 entries with each team consisting of four pilots.
The impressive list of participants contains competitors from all walks of motorsport, each participant fielding a minimum of two professional drivers with an international FIA license and a maximum of two sim drivers.
Several WEC teams will participate, including Toyota Gazoo Racing, Rebellion Racing, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche, as well as competitors IMSA Penske and Corvette.
Five current F1 drivers will be on the grid, alongside two world champions as well as competitors from Formula 2, WEC, IndyCar, Formula E, the world of Esport and more.
Fernando Alonso will team up with Rubens Barrichello, and other great teammates include Max Verstappen and Lando Norris at Team Redline; Jean-Eric Vergne and AlphaTauri F1 driver Pierre Gasly for Veloce Esports; Charles Leclerc and Alfa Romeo F1 driver Antonio Giovinazzi for Ferrari in GT class; Porsche Formula E drivers Neel Jani and Andre Lotterer are leading the brand’s four competitors.
Simon Pagenaud and Juan Pablo Montoya will meet for Team Penske and WEC and Formula E racers Sebastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley will be featured for Toyota.
Richard Mille Racing will field an all-female participation made up of Katherine Legge, Tatiana Calderon, Sophia Floersch and simulation runner Emily Jones.
Each driver must complete a minimum of four hours of the event, but no more than seven hours may be run by a single driver over the 24 hour period.

After a pre-show (livestream above) starting at 8:00 a.m. EDT / 12:00 p.m. GMT, the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual will begin at 9:00 a.m. EDT / 1:00 p.m. GMT on Saturday, June 13, 2020, the checkered flag falling 24 hours later at 9:00 a.m. EDT / 1:00 p.m. GMT on Sunday June 14.
During the four days preceding the event, competitors will be able to participate in free practice and on the evening of June 12, the GTE and LMP teams will each participate in a 20-minute qualifying session to define the grid for the race. next day.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual will take place on rFactor 2, supplied and supported by Studio 397, which is also used for the Formula E Race at Home Challenge.
The Circuit de la Sarthe, where the 24 Hours of Le Mans takes place each year, is available on rFactor 2 for an additional fee.
How can I watch it and broadcast it?
Motorsport.tv and Motorsport.com will broadcast the entire event and provide full coverage of all actions and updates on the Motorsport Network’s websites and social media accounts.
Commentators will guide viewers through the event from a studio in Paris, with a multitude of guest experts bringing their knowledge and opinions throughout.

On June 13 and 14, one of the most remarkable motorsport events in memory will take place. In the niche that should have been occupied by the 24 Hours of Le Mans before the outbreak of the pandemic, the ACO organizer in partnership with the World Endurance Championship and the Motorsport Games is organizing the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual presented by SAFEIS, with 50 cars and some of the best sim drivers and racers in the world.
Ferrari has introduced three works of virtual cars that will be operated from simulation platforms located at the Ferrari museum in Maranello. The team is overseen by the Ferrari competition department under the direction of Antonello Coletta and each car will be managed by four drivers, including GT drivers, simulation drivers and F1 stars Charles Leclerc and Antonio Giovanazzi.
