2022 Genesis GV70, Coming Soon, Teased in Camouflage
Genesis really needs a second SUV to compete in today’s crossover obsessed world. Fortunately, this SUV seems to be just around the corner. Today, Genesis revealed the GV70 in stealth form. The SUV is expected to arrive here in the United States for the 2022 model year.
Looking under the camouflage we can tell that the Genesis GV70 is inspired by the larger headlights and taillights of the GV80. While the grille shape is familiar, the mug features a unique black mesh pattern, at least on this version. Black starfish-shaped wheels complete the look.
Genesis has started testing the camouflaged GV70 on public roads in Korea. For the following month, motorists can scan a QR code on the vehicle wrapping to learn more about the unique camouflage.
At this point, Genesis doesn’t reveal much more information other than to say that the SUV “telegraphs an exciting new design and reinforces the brand’s core values that run through. [the] range. “The automaker hasn’t given a specific timeline for when we might see it fully discovered.
The SUV is expected to be based on a rear-wheel drive platform derived from the G70 sports sedan. Given the current market dynamics, there is a strong possibility that it will become the brand’s best-selling vehicle after its introduction. Genesis is also planning a third SUV, an electric vehicle on a new EV platform. Earlier this year Luc Donckerwolke, then design director at Hyundai Motor, said the three SUVs will share DNA but have their own character, rather than being clones. We plan to learn more about the Genesis GV70 in the near future.
