2022 Genesis G70 Official Images Reveal The Expected, Sales Start Soon
When the Genesis G80 made its global debut in March, it provided a preview of what we can expect from the rest of the South Korean brand’s luxury sedan lineup. This is especially true with the updated Genesis G70 model, which was already in the news during this time.
Now Genesis officially reveals the facelift for the 2022 model year and simply confirms the expected adoption of the G80 fascia, and more.
Hyundai’s luxury arm continues with its athletic exterior design for the G70. This design language is enhanced by the sharpness of the two-tiered headlights called Quad Lamps, accentuating the iconic Genesis grille which now wears a different shape.
In profile, the G70 has two lines to highlight the kind of muscular form. However, it ditched the G80’s dual-LED turn signals and replaced it with side air extractors optimized for efficiency. The new G70 naturally receives a redesigned wheel set. The rear echoes the Quad lamp from the front, while a shapely trunk that almost resembles a lip spoiler serves as the highlight, along with the twin oval tailpipes and body-colored diffusers.
Inside, the refurbished Genesis G70 boasts a driver-centric layout, but more importantly, it houses the latest in a car’s connectivity options. A new 10.25-inch infotainment system crowns the dashboard, with an exclusive Genesis UI design supporting the latest over-the-air wireless updates (OTA, wifi update function), the Valet and CarPay mode. Wireless charging has also been updated to accommodate larger smartphones.
No powertrain specification has yet been revealed, but reports have circulated of the loss of the manual gearbox. We’ll know more about it as we approach its official debut when the new Genesis G70 hits the market in Korea next month. The debut in the US market will likely take place next year for the 2022 model year.
