Yesterday we received spy photos of prototypes of Genesis G70 facelifted driving without any heavy heavy camouflage hiding the front end. Now the photos of Korean Cars Blog pretend to take a step beyond spy shots. It looks like these are leaking images straight out showing the sedan’s front and rear clips fully exposed, long before Genesis wanted you to see them.
The location of the photos is unknown. Korean Cars Blog shared one in a Facebook post, with others available in their article. The front transformation shouldn’t be a big surprise – spy photos already showed us the double-glazed headlights and the updated grille with its sharp crest. These changes will align the G70 with the rest of the Genesis family, including the new G80 sedan unveiled in April.
Likewise, photos leaked from the back confirm what we saw in the spy photos. The updated rear features much larger oval tailpipes, with new taillights that mimic the two-eye design of the G70’s new eyes. A new thing these spy shots make revealing, however, is a 2.0T badge on the deck cover. This suggests that the new G70 will not get the larger 2.5-liter four-cylinder, but it is not yet a gun. It is possible that the largest engine is offered in the United States, and it is also possible that this first prototype is not entirely truthful with its advertising.
Leaking interior photos show a familiar layout with a new steering wheel and a larger infotainment screen, as expected. Everything is disabled in shots, so there is no way to know what types of software upgrades might be in store.
Usually seeing leaky photos like these suggests that a revelation is approaching. This is not necessarily the case here, as our sources believe that the G70 is still expected to debut in 2021. This likely means that it will go on sale in South Korea first as a 2021 model, and then in North America later this year. as model 2022.
