2021 Ram TRX Shows Cool Details In Video Walkaround
The Ram 1500 TRX doesn’t arrive in showrooms until late 2020, but this video from EddieX offers potential customers a chance to get up close and personal with the new performance truck. There are some very neat little details and Easter eggs.
Ram designers are revising the exterior of the standard Ram 1500 to make it more aggressive but also more functional for off-roading. Changes include the use of a grille with open “RAM” lettering for better airflow and the addition of a working hood scoop. The vents in the fender flares are functional.
Opening the hood is a bit of a letdown as you’d expect to see the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 like an orange gem in the engine bay. Instead, there is a large black cover hiding the engine. With 702 horsepower (523 kilowatts) and 650 pound-feet (881 newton-meters) on tap, there’s no reason to be upset with horsepower.
Inside, this TRX has the Level 2 package which adds a bit of extra equipment to the cabin. It includes eight-way power, ventilated and heated seats with leather upholstery. The steering wheel is also heated and covered in leather and suede. Other equipment includes rain-sensitive windshield wipers, rear window defroster, blind spot and crossover detection, front and rear parking aid and a panoramic camera.
There is a cute Easter egg in the center console. One image shows a person standing next to the TRX and a tyrannosaurus rex is next to a raptor dinosaur. It is reminiscent of the image of a tyrannosaurus holding a raptor in its mouth which is hidden in the engine compartment.
The TRX starts at $ 69,995, plus a destination fee of $ 1,695. Check each option box to get a truck that costs $ 100,835, which translates into a pretty expensive pickup.
