2021 Ram TRX Cold Start Video Reveals Exhaust Volume, Idle Sound
The battle for dinosaur-sounding truck names is definitely on with the arrival of the 2021 Ram TRX, although Ram has confirmed that it was not named after the prehistoric reptile.
Despite the sky-high price tag, the Raptor hunter was very attractive to first-time buyers. With the 702 units of TRX Launch Editions sold out in three hours, to call it a success would be an understatement.
Now, those who ordered the V8-powered Ram 1500 would have to do more than wait for their long-awaited truck. Based on this video posted by Instagram user hydrotrx, it looks like the Ram TRX’s cold start would be loud, revealing an exhaust note that will surely resonate in a tight neighborhood. If you’re one of those hopeful owners, you might want to start warning your neighbors – it won’t be pleasant for them every time you start your truck in the morning.
That exhaust note and its idling are quite expected, thought. With a 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 under its hood, that deep rumble should come as no surprise. Still, your neighbors better know what they will be dealing with soon.
Just in case you need a recall, the 2021 Ram TRX is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces up to 702 horsepower (523 kilowatts) and 650 pound-feet (881 Newton-meters) of couple. It’s the same mill that powers FCA’s muscle cars but Less powerful due to the longer intake and exhaust passages.
Again, if you’re among those waiting for their Ram TRX, you still have time to let your neighborhood friends know. FCA has promised that the first deliveries of the TRX will begin by the end of the year.
