2021 Lexus IS Debut Rescheduled For June 15, New Teaser Released
The debut of the Lexus IS 2021 faces another delay and now has an unveiling on June 15, rather than the original plan to show the new generation on June 9. The company offered no reason to postpone the first of an additional week.
If it’s a consolation, Lexus has released a teaser showing more of the new IS. The video is only five seconds long, but our gallery below contains screenshots showing some details.
This is the IS350 F Sport variant because the badge is visible on the fenders and the rear. The sedan rolls on wheels with a complicated spoke design, and Bridgestone Potenza tires wrap around them.
A view of the rear fenders reveals that there is a brushed metal trim around the windows, and this comes to a sharp point at the C-pillar. The fuel filler door has a trapezoidal shape.
At the rear, the taillights cover the entire width of the rear, including a thin strip for the center section. At the edges, the lamps have sharp points. On this F Sport version, there is a small spoiler along the edge of the trunk lid.
Lexus does not yet reveal much technical information about the new SI. There is a rumor that an IS 500 at the top of the range will pack a V8 engine to replace the IS F. It is currently unclear whether the IS 350 will continue to use the existing 3.5-liter V6 with 311 hp (232 kW) or switch to a new power plant.
If you want to watch the new beginnings of the SI, Lexus plans to broadcast the announcement live on June 15. The first will be at 7:00 p.m. EDT (11:00 p.m. GMT). Lexus would not intend to sell the 2021 IS in Europe because the region prefers the company’s crossovers rather than its sedans.
