2021 Jaguar F-Pace Brings Refreshed Interior, Mild-Hybrid Engines
The British are already making some of the best crossovers on the road today, and the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace is looking to keep the momentum going. Facelifted for the new model year, Jaguar’s larger crossover shows a slight nip and pullback, with a much more intensely redesigned interior. Added to the visual tweaks is a new range of engine choices, including mild hybrid and four-cylinder variants.
Taken as a whole, the changes aren’t drastic, but the update is enough to make the F-Pace a more compelling choice. This is important, as the F-Pace competes in the ultra-heated luxury midsize crossover segment, which is packed with rock-solid options.
If it ain’t broke
Place a new 2021 F-Pace next to the model currently on sale and we’d bet the majority of people couldn’t tell them apart – and that’s fine. The F-Pace is already a fantastic crossover, with a smooth, rounded shape and nice details. In a recent design presentation, the Jaguar team broke down what they had changed on the new car, in an effort to improve the look rather than change it.
The face of the 2021 F-Pace has fewer lines, namely on the hood where it now closes seamlessly into the front fairing. The new LED headlights are significantly thinner, now with small Js as a daytime signature. There’s also a new grille, with an optional dark appearance available as part of the Black Exterior Pack.
Jaguar has rocked the details even further by adding the iconic jumper emblem to the crossover’s side vents and redesigning the center exhausts to resemble those on the Range Rover Velar. To complete the modifications, new rear lights, slimmer and equipped with a new light signature. We like the refreshed look of the F-Pace, but the car’s new interior is where most of the work has been done.
Jaguar took a little longer with the F-Pace’s new interior, ripping most of the center console out and replacing it with more up-to-date technology. Up front and center is a new 14.1-inch curved display screen, which replaces the old 10.0-inch unit. The new material is very stylish, especially from the side, and functions as the main point of interaction with the car. Directly below are all of the HVAC controls, including the rotary knobs that control the temperature and the seat heating / ventilation functions.
This setup is almost identical to that of the Range Rover cousins of the F-Pace, only the Jag seems a bit cleaner in its layout. The new larger screen accompanies a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and runs the company’s latest Pivi Pro software. With the new system, Jaguar promises faster response times, as well as more intuitive menus thanks to the increased screen area.
In addition to the new technology on offer, the F-Pace intensifies its game with softer-touch materials and other details that make the cabin a little more comfortable. There is a new center console shifter that sits next to the drive mode controls, replacing the rotary unit that rises from the console in the current model. Meanwhile, the F-Pace takes its new direction from the I-Pace, including capacitive touch buttons and the simple three-spoke design. To sweeten things up a bit more, ten-color ambient lighting is now standard, as is keyless entry and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system.

New choices under the hood
For 2021, Jaguar is offering the F-Pace in four trim levels: F-Pace 250, 250 S, S 340 and R-Dynamic S 400. The 250 models are powered by a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. 246 horsepower (183 kilowatts) in both versions. Subsequently, the S 340 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder with mild hybrid assistance developing 335 hp (250 kW). Finally, the R-Dynamic S uses the same engine and raises things a little to 395 hp (295 kW). The entry-level model hits sixty miles per hour in 6.9 seconds, while the fastest R-Dynamic model will do it in 5.1 seconds. Each of the engines is associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
This F-Pace model line still uses features to make the big crossover a better crossover on the road than some of its rivals. This includes standard all-wheel drive across the lineup and a host of drive modes that adjust steering, throttle response, and optional adaptive dampers.
