As the 2021 Ford F-150 nears its debut on June 25, more details about the much-anticipated pickup are leaking. Now an anonymous insider who talks to Reuters says the truck has a flat folding passenger seat that turns into a bed. “You can basically live in the truck,” said the source.
While this is an interesting gadget, the ability of the seat to turn into a bed makes us wonder how many F-150 owners sleep in their trucks regularly.
Reuters reports that the Ford team is putting great emphasis on improving the interior of the new F-150, and that certainly seems to be the case judging by the spy photos of the truck. The exterior only seems to have evolutionary style changes. Meanwhile, the cabin gains a huge screen that overlooks the central stack, and there is also a group of digital instruments. For an overview, check out the spy photos in the gallery below. The Blue Oval already confirms that the technology supports live updates that should improve software over the life of the vehicle.
Another interesting and widespread feature for the F-150 is an optional integrated generator. The technology would allow homeowners to use electrical equipment while away from the grid.
After the June 25 debut, look for the new F-150 that will be available in showrooms in the fall. The Blue Oval would offer the truck many engine options, including a variety of V6 mills, the 5.0-liter V8 and a diesel using the 3.0-liter V6 Power Stroke. The pickup will also get electrified variants by offering a hybrid combustion engine and a full EV.
