The 2021 Ford Expedition appears to be the brand’s next vehicle to get an STX appearance package, according to Ford Authority. This would follow the recent introduction of the Ranger STX.
Like the Ranger, the STX Expedition package would be available on the base XL version. This gives the entry-level model an improved appearance and better technology. Customers get an 8-inch infotainment display running Sync 3 software, rather than the stock 4.2-inch display. There is also a three-zone automatic climate control. On the outside there is a five-bar chrome grille and the 18-inch wheels with a metallic magnetic finish of the FX4 off-road package with white lettered off-road tires.
The STX package is only available on the Standard Expedition with two-row seats.
Since launching the new Expedition for the 2018 model year, Ford has kept the big SUV fresh by introducing additional packages and trim levels. For 2020, the company introduced the luxurious King Ranch Edition with Ebony Del Rio leather, including on the top of the dashboard, and wood veneer accents.
Also for 2020, Ford has made the off-road-focused FX4 package available on the top-of-the-line Limited trim. It includes updated shocks, a limited slip differential, seven skid plates and a sand guard to protect the turbocharger intercoolers. The SUV rolls on 32-inch off-road tires on 18-inch wheels. In terms of appearance, there’s a shorter front chin spoiler that helps the angle of approach, and the chrome running boards are long on the sides.
The latest generation of the Expedition is larger than the previous one. However, greater use of aluminum gives it less weight. The SUV is also more rigid.
