2021 Ford EcoSport Active Teased For Europe, Debuts In November
A few years ago, the popularity of SUVs and crossovers resulted in the disappearance of cars and other low-profile vehicles in the United States that carry the Blue Oval badge – with the exception of the Mustang. This is the sad truth and an inevitable commercial move from Ford.
Fortunately, Ford of Europe and other parts of the world have kept cars in their queue. But to meet demand, Active variants have been added to the Fiesta and Focus lineup in the UK and EU, providing an elevated drive option for the SUV-hungry market using familiar nameplates.
The Active series, however, transcends the EcoSport range, based on a tweet from Ford of Europe. The social media post read “Our hugely popular ‘Active’ series is being expanded to include #FordEcoSport. Stay tuned – EcoSport Active will be unveiled on November 6.”
The tweet was accompanied by an image showing the right wing of an orange EcoSport. The photo also shows the Active badge and a thick coating, probably to go with the monicker everywhere.
We’re still in the dark when it comes to the standard equipment the EcoSport Active 2021 will support. The Fiesta and Focus Active variants are raised and dressed to look leathery, so we should be able to deduce that.
However, the EcoSport is already a large vehicle with a lot of floor space. We’ll see what Ford has in store for the small crossover, but if you ask Roelant de Waard, vice president, marketing, sales and service, Ford of Europe, he said in a statement:
The EcoSport Active will be a new addition to the Active Series that offers additional capabilities and rugged styling for customers who want to take their outdoor adventures to the next level.
Guess the extra coatings were a clue but we’ll see about the additional capacity Waard was talking about.
