2021 Ford Bronco’s Tube Doors May Feature Built-In Airbags
We can finally start to speculate on what kind of accessories the 2021 Ford Bronco will have at its disposal as the Blue Oval’s off-road SUV resembles that of the legendary Jeep Wrangler. Granted, Ford hasn’t released many details on what kind of add-ons it plans to offer on the model, but that hasn’t stopped curious fans digging in and trying to figure it out by. themselves. A particularly motivated member of the Bronco6G The forum recently unearthed an image showing a Bronco with a set of radial-looking tubular doors.
We previously posted information on the Bronco’s removable doors, including the possibility of tubular doors appearing on the model. This is the first time that we see an image of the tubular doors outside of a patent drawing. Wranglers have long offered tubular doors and it was almost a conclusion that the Bronco would sport a similar optional configuration.
One thing that the Wrangler’s tubular doors lack is an airbag. It sounds pretty unconventional, but last year Ford filed a patent for – what looks like – a tubular door with an “inflatable device” inside. In short, it looks like Ford put airbags in the Bronco’s next tube doors. While we’re not quite sure how it works, we think the concept is pretty cool considering the limited protection these open doors offer.
The aftermarket is sure to offer specialty off-road accessories, such as tubular doors, for the Bronco in the coming months. Still, if Ford has built additional security into its own tubular doors, then the factory-backed units of the Blue Oval will be pretty hard to beat.
