January 9, 2017. It was then that Ford officially confirmed the return of the Bronco to the Detroit Auto Show where the Blue Oval also announced the return of the Ranger. While the pickup truck has been around in the U.S. for quite some time, it’s only now that the reputable SUV is about to break coverage. The official revelation date has been pushed back several times, but the wait is finally over as the Bronco debuts today.
It should be noted that Ford is making its debut on more than one model, as an entire “Bronco family” will be introduced in the coming hours. The words “Bronco lineup” are mentioned several times in the press release announcing how fans can watch the premiere, which begins at 8 p.m. EST. From that moment, the first users will be able to reserve their Bronco of choice for $ 100.
Numerous spy shots and teasers have revealed that the renaissance of the Bronco – after its demise in 1996 – will remain true to the square shape and design clues of its predecessors. It probably won’t be as radiant as the 2004 Bronco concept, but still retro enough to make purists happy after Ford had the courage to slap the Mustang badge on an electric SUV.
As for the Bronco models that we will see today, there is not much mystery. The previous teasers showed three different off-road flavors: 2-door, 4-door and sport. The first two appeared to be the long-awaited competitor of Ford Jeep Wrangler / Wrangler Unlimited, while the Bronco Sport had a more cross profile to signal a more road-oriented monocoque model.
Ford has been relatively shy about the details of its highly publicized Bronco resurrection, but we know there will be up to seven driving modes to choose from, including mud, sand, dirt and GOAT. Eight colors were also previewed in one Instagram post, and we also have recent spy photos showing much of the interior cabin.
However, there are many things we don’t know about the Bronco. The details of the engines, gearboxes and all-terrain chops remain shrouded in mystery, but everything will be revealed in a few hours. Join us to explore the world tonight when we have all the juicy specs and full photo galleries of the three members of the new Bronco line.
