2021 Bentley Bentayga: These Are the 8 Biggest Interior Improvements
Bentley created the ultra-luxury SUV segment when the Bentayga launched five years ago, paving the way for competitors like Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce. While we admire the majestic SUV for its solid performance both on and off the road, we are somewhat disappointed with its slimmed down list of standard features, especially given its six-figure price. Now Bentley is updating the Bentayga with a more modern cabin. These are the eight biggest improvements Bentley has made to the interior.
Larger touch screen
One thing that revealed the Bentayga’s old age is its 8-inch touch screen. With competitors like Mercedes and Cadillac offering much larger units, it was time for Bentley to upgrade. Now the Bentley Bentayga 2021 has a respectable 10.9-inch touchscreen with new Android Auto capability. Apple CarPlay Wireless is now standard, as are USB-C data ports and a wireless phone charger.
Fully digital instrument cluster
Like the new Continental GT and Flying Spur, the Bentayga receives a group of digital instruments. It offers special entertainment and can be reconfigured according to the driver’s needs.
An improved navigation system includes three-dimensional building displays as well as satellite maps. The head-up display now projects traffic information, street names and distances on the windshield.
Bentley has redesigned its seats with more sculpture around the shoulder area. A new seat frame on the five-passenger model has allowed Bentley to double the stroke of the rear seat tilt angle. On this variant, you can get ventilation in the rear seats, a feature that was previously reserved for four seats. If you want to get really chic, you can now select a micro-piping on the seats or a new design of plush Mulliner Driving Specification quilting.
Continuing the updates, Bentley has overhauled the cabin with bold new materials on the doors and dashboard. A new brushed aluminum trim in dark shade is available, as well as two new choices of wood veneer.
More accommodating rear seat
We’ll have to test it for ourselves, but Bentley says the Bentayga offers more room for the rear passengers. Back here, there is also a larger touch screen for adjusting parameters such as media, mood lighting, blinds and heating and seat massage.
We’re not impressed with Bentayga’s standard 10-speaker audio system, which makes it sound like you’re listening to it in the next room. Fortunately, the Bentayga abandons this configuration, which makes the Signature Audio system with 12 standard speakers. A 20-speaker Naim audio system is optional.
The new Bentaygas have a built-in SIM card, so you don’t need your phone to set up a data connection. Bentley says it has improved its remote services with the MyBentley app, including features such as “find my car” and “lock my car”. Depending on the market, customers will have access to real-time traffic information and live map updates, as well as green light forecasts, online music and hazard information local.
