From the start, Chevrolet made it clear that the new Corvette C8 will be a fairly special machine. Its mid-engine layout and its supercar appearance and dynamics are obviously the biggest contributors to this status, but small details also count. And General Motors nails it with the little gestures it makes to its loyal customers.
The automaker has a tradition of thanking some of its customers for purchasing a brand new Corvette with a small thank you gift that usually includes a personal letter and / or a framed Corvette poster. Chevrolet takes the game to the next level with the Corvette C8 because CrovetteBlogger reports, by sending scale models to buyers as gifts. These are different from the Corvette sculptures by Amalgam Collection, but the idea, in general, is similar.
The brand likes to call them “Speed Shape Models” and CorvetteBlogger contributor Jeremy Welborn describes them as “larger than traditional 1:25 promotional models” and “much heavier as well”. These models are available in colors that match buyers’ actual Corvette C8s and there is also a small badge with an engraving of the VIN code for the actual car. The small C8 replicas are packed in a pretty black box.
Users of Corvette C8 owners (and friends) group on Facebook have published a number of photos showing their gifts and there are models in black, orange, silver and other colors. Everyone seems to really appreciate GM’s cool gesture.
We hope the manufacturer continues its practice when deliveries of the Corvette Z06 hopefully begin sometime next year in time for the 2022 model year. We have preliminary information regarding many of the Z06’s technical features , including its active aerodynamics and its 5.5-liter V8 with flat crankshaft, and we can’t wait to see all the pieces of the puzzle come together.
